The best atmosphere in town by far for a hip hop and jazz club. Right in the centre of the city, just off the Ramblas, in the beautiful Plaza Reial, Jamboree has been around for a while and is certainly here to stay as a focal feature of Barcelona's club scene.

Once the proud host of jazz legends like Chet Baker and Ella Fitzgerald, it may no longer have quite the same big name draw but continues to programme interesting daily concerts within the full spectrum of the genre. Blues, soul, R&B, acid jazz and a lot more besides will keep you entertained from nine each night at a respectable €10 per concert. Later in the evening the venue transforms into a two room club playing a good mix of world music, electro and even the odd bit of rock upstairs with the cavernous basement devoted to funk and hip hop. Whilst drawing a lot of tourists the club is also popular with many locals and is warmly thought of by most, not least because of its venerable history.

Crowd wise I sometimes find the place to be a bit of a meat market on the weekends as we all cram into the basement and the temperature rises. The atmosphere is always good though and the quality of DJs and live music is pretty consistent. One real bonus of the club is it's €4 jazz, funk and hip hop jam sessions known as "WTF." Held about once weekly they are a really good opportunity to see quality music in a relaxed setting at a low price (check website for programming!)
