While it might not be the most luxurious club in town, Harlem Jazz Club certainly holds a pedigree for being extremely knowledgable about their programming and creating an authentically cool atmosphere. Much more diverse and eclectic than it's name would have you believe, every night of the week the club plays host to a wide range of musical styles from world, tango, salsa and flamenco to modern and more traditional jazz forms.

Some nights are free and when more established names make an appearance the price can stretch upto around €12 but is never exorbitant. The clientelle tends to be comprised of regulars, locals and those who have wandered off the usual beaten track of the tourist circuit. As, although Harlem Jazz Club is very central, literally only a few minutes of Las Ramblas, it's hidden away enough to not be over run by one-time visitors.

It's slightly grungier appearance and more diverse programming certainly set it apart from the majority of jazz clubs in Barcelona and add to its credibility. Again, it is not the biggest club but if you want a place that is both serious about its music and fun to hang out in you could do a lot worse.
