Click here to view map Click here to launch website There is nothing good about this club. I have barely ever been in a place that I liked less - not just in terms of clubs but in my life in general. As a child I once visited Eyam in Derbyshire where my brothers put me in a set of stocks and chucked stuff at me, which was a lot more fun than the one sorry night I spent at Baja Beach. Apparently once known as being the haunt for vips and beautiful people i can only assume this is down to Barcelonan celebrities having really bad taste. Supposedly in the style of the Californian beach it takes its name from, the club features go-go dancing waitresses in bikinis and very gay looking topless barmen. The club is decorated with palm trees, surfboards a speed boat and for some reason a bar in the shape of a giant whale. Sounding like fun yet? The music they play - if you’re lucky enough to hear any - is appalling. A shitty mix of bad pop and worse electro - I think they might have played "Crazy in Love" the night I was there and that was most definitely the highlight of the evening. I say, lucky enough, because even if you like the music, you’re not likely to hear it for long before they start up a super fun competition, or the Dj decides to ramble on about any old rubbish that takes his fancy. Ok, there was one thing that I didn’t object to whilst I was there, the drinks really weren’t that expensive. Cocktails were €5 and beers €3 which is well below average - but still I think the drinks would have to be free to get me back in there. There is an outdoor terassa which backs onto the beach and ultimately gives the place a bit of a buttlins feel to it. This area is also open in the day for food and is popular in the good weather, the food served being pretty decent. I’d like to finish up by saying something positive about Baja Beach but it’s a tacky, worthless place that you really shouldn’t go to. If you have to, at least download some flyers off the website to save you money!
