Take away food with a low price that isn’t reflected in the quality of its ingredients has to be worth checking out. Not only does Itzli provide good quality take away, but, even rarer in Barcelona, good quality Mexican food, which many of my North American friends claim is more authentic than more expensive rival restaurants in town. The two locations, in Barceloneta and Born, offer a simple menu. A selection of meat and vegetarian quesadillas and burritos along with side dishes and Mexican desserts are complimented by reasonably priced drinks and Mexican beer. I love the Burritos, especially the chicken. They are large, packed full with cheese, meat/fish, veg, beans sauces and rice and most importantly they're extremely filling; certainly enough for a quick meal on the go. I was not quite so keen on the cheese Quesadilla i tried but they are also good value and equally large.

The service is efficient, though the speed of production is limited by the small kitchen and staff numbers, not normally a problem however unless passing by at peak hours of the evening. There is also a small selection of tinned and fresh Mexican ingredients on sale, but don’t touch them or you will feel the almighty wroth of the owner!! NO TOCAR!!! The items are not very cheap but I imagine most of them are not widely available in Spain, and this is shown in the prices. There are a few seating spaces and tables in each restaurant and the interior is certainly pleasant enough for you to eat inside, though a trip to Barceloneta beach or Ciutadella park, burrito in hand, is normally a much better option.Take away food with a low price that isn’t redflected in the quality of its ingredients has to be worth checking out. Another really good thing about Itztli is that it is open at useful times. If you’re really running late before a night out you’ll find it open till eleven most nights, not late by kebab shop standards but Itztli isn’t a typical fast food place. It’s a nicely presented, well run restaurant with low prices and great food.
