Rincon de Aragon has quite possibly the friendliest service in Barcelona. The waiters are never put out or huffy and they won’t spend the whole time trying their hardest to ignore you. In a town well known for poor service this Aragonese asador is a breath of fresh air, whilst the food is also pretty excellent.

A meat lover’s paradise, the Rincon knows how to grill. In addition to standard one person dishes, such as a brilliant entrecote steak, they have a selection of larger dishes which are perfect for sharing. Between ten people we had two of each of the three specialities of pork, goat and lamb as well as some starters of toast with tomato, ham and squid. The meat was fall-off-the-bone delicious. I was surprised at just how tender and tasty the goat was as I have rarely eaten it in the past, whilst the lamb came out as my favourite for being surely the most flavoursome.

The red wine flows freely and we had several very decent bottles of Somontano cabernet for around €10 each. The total for the meal (not including an abundance spirits which upped the price somewhat) was around €30 a head which for the quality of what we received was very good. The décor is smart and traditional with paintings of animals and scenes of Aragonese life all over the walls. We were lucky enough to have a large table in a section above the two main dining floors just for our party. Best of all though was our waitress, who was funny, kind and attentive. A great restaurant and the perfect place for a Spanish style Sunday lunch.
