This is a little miniature market place, just off tourist paradise Carrer de Princessa, on the opposite side to the Picasso Museum. In the picturesque square replete with beautiful Narnia-esque lampposts and stone flags there’s a little gang of white canvas stalls. Selling all kinds of hand-crafted goodies, from divine baby booties to funky felt corsages and cardigans and dresses, all “treball artesanals” sold to you by the people who make them.
There’s normally about six to ten stalls altogether, including one where you can buy t-shirts, tops and purses and chain pendants, all hand appliquéd with various images, from flowers and trees to hearts and flames. On another you’ll find hand knitted cashmere scarves, gloves and arm warmers, while another offers colourful felt flower corsages and cardigans.
Another stall is Baby Boogieloo, where you can find teeny tiny band t-shirts of The Ramones, Sex Pistols or the Smiths along with customised babygros and tiny booties. Other stalls have selections of cool logo T-shirts, sixties print dresses, and jackets and all manner of customised goodies.
There’s a lovely relaxed atmosphere, especially as its Saturday afternoon and the sun is (nearly always) shining, tots are scampering around the playground, and people are drinking wine and eating pizzas on the outdoor tables of the neighbouring restaurants and bars.
