Well, maybe its because they’ve been shopping in Kopp. With two branches in the centre of town, one on Calle Avinyó and another on Pintor Fortuny, just off Las Ramblas near the resplendent MACBA building in the Raval, this is a typically Barcelonan, mad mix of kitsch and colour, with bits and pieces for the house plus gifts, cards and gift wrap for your friends. Prices are quite cheap, as reflected in the crammed shelves from floor to ceiling. Psychedelic print paper, both for presents and for the wall, lots and lots of super gay photo collage stuff from Bikini. If you need a shower curtain, tea tray or ashtray in a sixties swirly print, then it's here. And, of course, there is also a large selection of the ubiquitous square, mounted canvases of Audrey and Marilyn. Bead curtains, knives and forks, cups, biscuit tins and plasticky novelties and keyrings, with plenty of goodies for less than a fiver (euros, that is), here you can find the perfect present for a friend, or the ideal item to brighten up your pad for a song.
