A retro treasure trove, this with another branch in Gracia, crammed, jammed and packed with second hand wares literally shoe-horned between the walls from its cheery orange sign over the shop front (signs are an optional extra, rather than a necessity amongst the Catalan shop keepers) right to the back of the narrow, twisty emporium. Leather jackets, macs, 70s sporty sets, skirts, patterned shift dresses, check shirts, cords, jeans and all the rest. Rustle out the least sweat stained 80s print sunset T shirt, or plunge head first into the big bins full of bags, belts, hats and scarves to complete your outfit with a one-off finishing touch.
The two best things about Retro City, however, have to be the reasonable prices, (in a street renowned for its second hand boutiques, this one seems pleasantly surprising, rather than giving you that uncomfortable “just spent the rent money” feeling at the till) and also the boots. Boots, boots, boots the whole room is lined with the footwear version of the Great Wall of China, and although you’ll be pressed for space in which to try them on, you’d be silly to pass them by.
